Discipline.  There must be an understanding that the principle owed still belongs to the credit card company and must be returned.  This will require a paradigm shift in thinking for most people. 


The shift is from consumption to accumulation of wealth.  Saving more than you spend may seem like a simple concept, but the average American owes at least $8,000 in credit card debt.  This credit card debt is not making money for them and is generally at rates of 15 to 19%.
